Finance Manager - Functional Cost Management

The Finance Manager for Functional Cost is responsible for functional cost budgeting, expense and rate analysis, and management of the BAE Systems Electronic Systems (ES) Intermediate Home Office (IHO). This position?s primary focus is on the segments of ES which reside on our common Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. However, the staff of financial analysts support functional cost at the BAE Systems Electronic Systems (ES) Sector level. This position reports to the ES Functional Cost Management Director. The Manager will be part of the sector finance team, which is largely based in Nashua, NH.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the full spectrum of fiduciary responsibilities and is a full business partner to a number of ES functions. The position provides leadership and guidance to functional cost management teams in areas of labor, expense and overhead rate budgeting, forecasting and reporting, expense recommendations, compliance, and cognizant internal controls.
Specific Responsibilities of the position will include:

  • Train, develop and lead a team of financial analysts

  • Prepare long and short range forecasts of expense, base, staffing and overhead rates

  • Provide finance partnership to ES functional leads

  • Report financial results compared to budgets and forecasts

  • Interpret monthly performance and make specific recommendations

  • Maintain a strong, compliant financial control environment through process review and data analysis

  • Anticipate needs and proactively formulate solutions

  • Support the functional cost management efforts of all segments in the ES sector

  • Analyze and understand all aspects of functional cost management for assigned Functions for all ES Segments

Typical Education & Experience
Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 10 years work experience or equivalent experience
Required Skills and Education

  • Demonstrated ability to be decisive, influential and gain commitment to action

  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills with the ability to identify and manage talent

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with strong communication and interpersonal skills necessary for interfacing with all levels of management, across functions, and with employees

  • Knowledge of systems and tools used to support the financials (Oracle, iPortal, and Hyperion)

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Financial controls experience, understanding of Expenses and Overhead Rates

  • Experience managing a diverse team of exempt employees with the ability to lead with vision

  • Exposure to and understanding of a multi-site and multi-segment organization

  • Proven familiarity with all BAE Systems plc, Inc. and sector policies, Federal Acquisition Regulations and USG Cost Accounting Standards

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
