Supervises, directs, and trains the activities of a large group of Material Handling personnel, or several smaller groups spread within a site or across sites. Participates in scheduling the internal flow of raw or in-process material from receiving, master stores, and to shipping to ensure manufacturing demand is met.
Required Skills and Education
1. Directs, plans, and supervises the workloads by estimating scheduling, distributing,, and controlling work assignments to provide for a smooth flow of both priority and routine tasks to achieve economical and efficent utilization of personnel and facilties.
2. May oversee the activities of other material handling supervisors in order to provide a consistent, cost-effective mode of operation.
3. Provide budget estimates in support of logistical operations to ensure they are competitively costed, accurate, and supportable.
4. Implement flow systems to coincide with Operations where applicable.
5. Promotes a strong sense of teamwork among personnel throughout and across value stream.
6. Interfaces with appropriate support personnel (Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Performance Excellence) in the investigation of material problems encountered in meeting schedule requirements and and/or quality standards. Identifies contributing causes and initiates corrective actions.
7. Provide a single point of contact between Logistics and Operations. Presents logistical status to customers, program management, and logistical management, as required.
8. Assists Logistics Manager in the establishment of department objectives to aid the business area in the long range planning process.
9. Monitors expense budgets issued monthly and takes corrective action when required.
10. Identifies errors and initiates corrective action and monitors the quality date to ensure the effectiveness of the corrective action. Supports corrective action reviews and participates in identifying root causes and corrective actions.
11. Conducts training, performance evaluations, staffing considerations, merit increases, and promotions in coordination with the Logistics Manager. Recommends hiring.
12. Ensures compliance with all safety and health regulations stated by company policy and federal, state, and local standards.
13. Key Performance Indicator Management and able to assist with internal/external auditing.
14. Implements company policy on affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity; company policies, standard practices, and security requirements.
15. Ensures Continuous Improvement is the main focus of the area.
16. Performs other related duties as required.
Preferred Skills and Education
Bachelor Degree (or four additional years of experience in lieu of a degree) and four years of progressively related experience
