Bachelor's degree in an Engineeering or Scientific field or equivalent experience

I. BASIC FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
Contribute to contracted programs by performing systems engineering functions such as developing and managing systems level requirements, developing operational systems concepts, originating design concepts or performing systems level integration and test. An individual at this level should be demonstrating the leadership ability to head small work groups or program teams.
II. PRIMARY DUTIES AND
Responsibilities: (Duties and responsibilities which occupy a major portion of time and importance in the job. Incumbent(s) perform one or more of the following duties.)
1. Performs one or more of the following systems engineering functions: a. Develops, allocates and manages complex system level requirements. b. Reviews, develops and documents complex system level operational concepts and mission statements. c. Researches and develop complex system designs and architectures. d. Evaluate complex systems designs and architectures and recommends design modifications to eliminate design flaws that do not support the systems requirements. e. Analyzes and prepare documentation for complex systems designs and architectures in accordance with established system development processes and procedures. f. Develops and analyzes complex algorithms. g. Performs system/product integration. h. Verifies and validates complex system designs to ensure conformance with functional specifications and customer requirements.
2. May perform or support various specialty-engineering tasks; such as Reliability, Maintainability and Availability (RMA) analysis, Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) analysis or programs, project Safety Engineering tasks, and Training Development, for complex systems.
3. May support site operations and sustainment activities at customer locations.
4. May be a member of a product quality team involved in causal analysis and resolution activities.
5. Assists upper management in identifying potential new products or business opportunities and defines associated program requirements.
6. Supports proposal development activities, including proposal text development, cost estimating and presentation activities.
7. May be a group or task lead. If so, is responsible for scheduling, assigning work, reviewing the technical adequacy of work products, meeting cost and schedule for assigned group and interface coordination with other groups.
8. May produce and/or review technical documents, specifications and standards.
9. May estimate systems cost and schedules by reviewing statements of work for new and revised projects
10. Prepares and/or delivers basic customer and technical presentations.
11. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
III. SUPERVISION:
A. Responsibilities for Work of Others
May serve as a group lead, providing work direction to other employees on a regular basis.
B. Supervision Received
Receives limited direction. Regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment in technical areas. Exercises considerable judgment in determining objectives and approaches. Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long-term perspective for desired results.
IV. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
A. Within Company
Primarily internal to the Business Area. Ability to work in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment is a norm.
B. Outside of Company
Frequent outside contact with customers, other contractors and government officials.
V. WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
A. Physical Tasks
Exerts normal physical energy.
B. Working Conditions
Normal office environment. May work extended hours or weekends. May travel overnight or on weekends.
VI. FINANCIAL
Responsibilities:
May suggests expense items for department budget. May provide input to proposal cost estimates. May be assigned Cost Account Manager (CAM) authorities.

Typical Related
Experience: Completion of a certificate program in Systems Engineering Preferred. Eight or more years experience developing system requirements, designs, verification and validation of systems, and product integration. Experience using state-of-the-art technology, principles, tools and concepts. Experience with systems development lifecycle and development processes and proceedures. (In addition to the items listed above, the Essential Functions are: 1. Exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of duties set forth in Section II above. 2. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing; 3. Exhibit sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating and negotiating with company personnel, customers and suppliers; 4. Utilize computer skills to prepare appropriate reports and documents; 5. Make decisions using sound judgment while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws and regulations; 6. Analyze, evaluate, develop and implement processes and systems within budget and adhere to time requirements and schedule; 7. Design and develop products and services using state-of-the-art technology, principles, theories and concepts.)
Required Skills and Education
Required education: Bachelor Degree in a Scientific or Technical Field with 8
years releated experience.
Preferred Skills and Education
Experience in EO/IR Warning Systems and/or Electronic Countermeasures
