BAE Systems is developing systems in the Electronic Support Measures (ESM) domain of Electronic Warfare (EW). Motivated and positive minded engineers skilled in ESM are needed for cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams.
BAE Systems is focused on enhancing operational EW capabilities for a wide variety of platforms. Constituent to the electronic warfare objectives of improving air vehicle survivability and executing the suppression and destruction of enemy air defenses, BAE Systems develops technology for RF sensing, signal processing, detection, and location of emitters.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
This position will involve developing new ESM systems and performing systems engineering functions such as developing and managing systems level requirements, developing operational systems concepts, performing system architecture trade studies, originating design concepts or performing systems level integration and test for highly complex systems.
Responsibilities may include:
1. Performing one of more of the following systems engineering functions:
a. Analyzes and develops ESM solutions to current and emerging threats to airborne platforms
b. Reviews, develops and documents system level operational concepts and mission statements
c. Develops and evaluates complex system designs and architectures
d. Develops and analyzes mathematically complex and computationally intricate ESM algorithms
e. Performs system level integration and test of ESM systems
f. Verifies and validates complex system designs to ensure conformance with functional specifications and customer requirements
2. Supporting proposal development activities, including proposal text development, cost estimating and presentation activities
3. Leading a group or task, to include being responsible for scheduling, assigning work, reviewing the technical adequacy of work products, meeting cost and schedule for assigned group and interface coordination with other groups
4. Estimating systems cost and schedules by reviewing statements of work for new and revised projects
5. Preparing and/or delivering basic customer and technical presentations
6. May have extensive outside contact with customers, other contractors and government officials
Required Education and
Experience: Bachelors and 4
year(s) related experience
Required Skills: The candidate will have good critical thinking skills that will be exercised across varied granularities, from highly constrained deductions to relatively unconfined big picture reasoning. The candidate will excel at problem solving and have the ability to produce concrete results despite significant ambiguities in the problem space. Specific skills within the Electronic Warfare domain include: - Understanding of RF Systems and wave propagation - Understanding of electromagnetic properties - Basic understanding of the system development process - Basic understanding of system test concepts - A strong interest in learning new skills and collaborating on new products The candidate will have strong oral presentation skills and the ability to publicly speak clearly, concisely, and comfortably, with the acuity to convey highly technical subject matter in pithy and intuitive fashion. The candidate will be capable of learning and working independently, harnessing natural curiosity to assimilate cross-disciplinary material, forge an understanding of the problem space, and develop the necessary skill sets to produce results.
