Apply packaging expertise to research packaging problems (including damages occurred in transportation)Develop, lead and monitor projects to drive strategic and tactical packaging improvement; understand implicated project efforts and impact to company direction and profitabilityWork with cross-functional teams to identify and eliminate gapsContinuously research and explore new technologies, designs, materials and processes to help drive strategic quality and cost improvementsDevelop, interpret and communicate technical reports in both written and verbal formsServe as the technical packaging expert; develop Standard Work Instructions (SWI) for packaging standards and processesTrain key personnel on proper packaging techniquesSpecify packing methods to be used based on mode/method of transportation and product profile; specify containers/cartons and packing (void fill) medium requirements; identify outbound labeling/documentation requirements; provide annual cost estimates for packing materials; and create cartonization tablesWhat you need to succeed at GXO:
At a minimum, you'll need:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work or military experience4 years of technical experience in the packaging engineering fieldProficiency with Microsoft Office SuiteTo meet government and federal law program requirements which requires U.
Scitizen status and security clearanceIt'd be great if you also have:
Excellent verbal and written communication skillsAble to work well with multiple cross-functional teamsAvailability to travel up to 25% of the timeLean/Six Sigma Black Belt designation or equivalent courseworkProficiency with CAD - CREO or SolidworksPackaging performance testing experience - test protocols from ISTA (International Safe Transit Association) and ASTM D 4169 Performance Package testingExperience with the following:
