ABOUT NASHUA CENTER Founded in 1973 to offer services for a group of children whose severity of disabilities prevented them from participating in any existing public or private educational programs, we now provide specialized care and support to over 500 individuals each year throughout Southern New Hampshire.
We help children from birth to age 3 and adults with disabilities or acquired brain disorders.
Our services include providing or connecting them with safe places to live, meaningful activities, social interaction, relationship-building, and skill development for increased independence.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL (DSP) As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you support an individual with developmental disabilities and acquired brain disorders to achieve their goals, explore their interests, and live meaningful lives as independently as possible.
You provide this support in a Day program setting.
Your support is needed in many areas of daily living including medication administration, bathing, hygiene, errands, meal preparation, eating, transportation (wheelchair van), housekeeping, recreation, and leisure activities.
You also help them celebrate achievements and provide comfort during difficult times.
With awareness of their individual service plan (ISP), you also work with a team to learn new skills and achieve goals.
You are conscientious about reporting any concerns about their health and safety and keeping all documentation up to date.
And, you always maintain confidentiality about everyone who attends the day program.
To continually develop your skills, you attend staff meetings, agency trainings, and in-service workshops.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A 1ST SHIFT DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL (DSP) High school diploma or equivalent Valid Driver's license Insured car Clean criminal record Ability to communicate both verbally and written with all internal and external staff/guardians Ability to lift 30 lbs.
