Summary:
As a Prepared Foods Team Leader, you will lead a team with your creativity, passion for the product, and quality driven leadership style. The Prepared Foods Team Leader provides overall management and supervision of the Prepared Foods Department. You will be responsible for Team Member hiring, development, terminations and generally holding your team accountable. Responsibilities also include profitability, expense control (packaging and labor), inventory control, buying and merchandising, regulatory compliance, recipe development and special projects as assigned.
DUTIES:
Give every customer immediate and undivided attention. Surprise and delight the customers with consistent, delicious food.
Interview, select, train, evaluate, counsel and terminate Team Members.
Create a labor schedule to leverage productivity within the needs of the department.
Conduct scheduled inventories and submit reports.
Develop and maintain creative store layout and product merchandising in support of regional and national vision.
Achieve required sales, margin, expense and labor targets
Know product availability, preparation, storage and nutritional aspects and ensure product mix meets varied customer dietary needs and requests.
Ensure department orders for equipment, supplies and products are timely and accurate.
Keep all cases and shelves clean, well-stocked and properly rotated.
Maintain accurate retail pricing and signage.
Conduct scheduled inventories and submit reports.
Communicate company goals and information to Team Members.
Keep Store Leadership informed of all events that affect the department.
Participate in regional and national sales promotions.
Have a firm understanding of department financials and labor budgets.
Schedule and lead department team meetings; attend store and regional meetings.
Follow and comply with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and adhere to safe work practices.

REQUIREMENTS:
Demonstrated two or more years of experience leading a team
Previous kitchen, culinary, deli, restaurant, kitchen management, cooking or customer service experience preferred.
Able to lead and motivate a diverse group of Team Members.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
Excellent merchandising skills and eye for detail.
Must be self-motivated and solution-oriented with effective time management skills.
Understand and communicate quality goals and ingredient information to customers.
Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness.
Strong work ethic and integrity.
Proper handling of knives and other cutting equipment.
Available for flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the department.
Certified purchaser experience preferred, and in the NE region is required.
Essential Job Functions:
Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
Bend and stoop to grasp objects and climb ladders. Bend and twist neck and waist, reach above and below shoulders and squat.
Bend and lift loads, not to exceed 50 pounds. Push and pull carts weighing up to 100 pounds.
Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.
Environmental exposure to extreme temperatures (coolers, ovens, freezer, outdoors, etc.)
